NEWDELHI: On Monday, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al- Jaafari said that the Iraqi government has “no substantial information” on 39 Indians taken hostage by the Islamic State terror group in Mosul in 2014.
“We have no substantial evidence that they (the Indians) were killed or they are still alive, so we cannot give anything in that regard,” al-Jaafari, who is on official visit to India, told reporters here. Continue reading
NEWDELHI: On Tuesday Chief of Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was reported dead by a Syrian monitoring group and an Iraqi TV news channel, a day after Iraq announced that they defeated the terror group in its stronghold of Mosul.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told- it had “confirmed information” from top IS commanders that al-Baghdadi had been killed. Continue reading

Three years after the militants seized the city and made it the stronghold of a “caliphate” they said would take over the world.
Haider al-Abadi made the announcement from the operations room of the Counter-Terrorism Service, his media office said on Twitter.
