RANCHI: A special CBI court on Saturday convicted former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and 15 other people in a 21-year old fodder scam case.
The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on January 3.
Those convicted included three IAS officers, former animal husbandry department officials and two other politicians – former JD-U MP Jagdish Sharma and former Bihar minister RK Rana.

A special court on Wednesday held former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, former coal secretary HC Gupta and two others guilty of corruption and other charges in a coal scam case.
This is the fourth conviction in as many as 30 cases of coal block allocation scam being decided by the court.
The present case pertains to irregularities in allocation of Rajhara North coal block in Jharkhand to a Kolkata-based company in 2007. Besides Koda and Gupta, two others who have been held guilty are former Jharkhand chief secretary AK Basu and the allottee firm Vini Iron & Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL). Continue reading

CHENNAI: Few Months after former chief minister J Jayalalitha’s death, her estate in Ooty continues to be in news for the wrong reasons.
On Monday, one of the accountants, who was working in the same estate, Dinesh Kumar, was found hanging from the ceiling of his house. On the basis of preliminary investigations police confirmed the incident and suspect it to be a case of suicide. Murali Rambha, SP, Ooty, told HT that Dinesh had not gone to office in the estate for the past fortnight due to medical reasons.
The 28-year old computer operator, who used a saree to hang himself, was found by his mother and sister. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Continue reading
