Driverless train of Delhi Metro’s Magenta line crashed into a wall of Kalindi Kunj metro station. The Kalkaji-Botanical Garden metro line is set to be inaugurated by PM Modi on December 25. According to a report in India Today, the incident happened within the gated boundary of the station. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

A Delhi Metro official confirmed the incident. The incident took place between 3 pm and 4 pm today. There were no casualties, the official mentioned. The Delhi Metro staff is looking into what led to this incident.

Riding in an intoxicated state, creating a scene or using abusive language inside the premises of a Metro network could lead to rs. 5,000 fine, according to sweeping changes proposed in the law to govern mass rapid-transit systems in India.
The Union housing and urban development ministry has sent the draft Metro Rail (Construction, Operation and Maintenance) Bill, 2017 to the law ministry for vetting, and it contains clauses that will overhaul not only rules and regulations for passengers but the way Metro projects are built and fares revised.
The bill also proposes stiff fines for staffers, who could be fined rs. 10,000 for general offences and rs. 30,000 and jail term of up to two years if their actions endangers passengers. Continue reading

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated on Tuesday the Hyderabad Metro Rail and took a ride along with Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on its maiden run.
The 30 km-long stretch has 24 stations covering several busy clusters and city landmarks, including the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Osmania University, Secunderabad Railway Station and major commercial hubs like Begumpet and Ameerpet.

NEWDELHI: Commuters who face harassment, stalking or theft in Delhi Metro will not have to go to police stations to lodge a complaint. The Delhi Police has issued an order, asking its staff to be present at their booths at 23 Metro stations and help passengers in filing complaints.
According to the order, police personnel will be present at the booths between 9am and 5pm. Once more staff is available, the facility will be extended roundthe-clock and across all Metro stations. The booths will also be provided computers so that e-FIRs can be filed.

NEW DELHI : A number of issues has forced the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to close down snack shops at stations across the national capital region.
While shops that have already been leased out will be allowed to operate until their contracts expire, the spaces will not be leased out again. However, the DMRC has decided to go easy on food courts and small cafes because they meet the prescribed hygiene requirements. Continue reading
