Need experienced teachers for upcoming board exams evaluation: CBSE

To ensure quality and error-free evaluation, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all affiliated schools to send their regular and experienced teachers for marking the copies.

According to a circular issued by the board, the affiliation of the school will be cancelled if it fails to adhere to the directions. The board also said it would conduct Class 10 and 12 examinations in March 2018.

“Smooth and efficient conduct of class 10 and 12 examinations along with declaration of result in time with accuracy has always been the foremost endeavour of the Board. To ensure quality and error-free evaluation , the board requires a large number of experienced and trained teachers to complete the whole process in a time-bound manner,” CBSE said in the circular issued to more than 18,000 affiliated schools.

“Non-compliance of the directions will be seen as a misconduct and the board will be compelled to take strong action, including penalty and/or further action of disaffiliation”.

The board pointed out that it has always relied on schools to depute experienced teachers for evaluation work. “However, it has been observed that the schools are not cooperating with the Board in nominating/deputing and relieving their regular and experienced teachers for the process. The directions of the board in this regard are not being followed in letter and spirit.”

Schools have been instructed to ensure that all teachers from classes 9 till 12 register themselves on the examination portal. Schools have to relieve all the teachers identified by the CBSE for evaluation. “Ensure that all teachers identified as evaluators of answer script are given no other teaching or school related work during evaluation, thereby raising quality of evaluation”.

CBSE has also asked schools to ensure teachers undergo requisite training for pre-evaluation as mandated by the board. This year, the board set up two committees to look into the problems related to evaluation process.
