NRI stuck at Delhi Airport for 3 days after a flyer to Canada takes his passport

A Bahrain-bound NRI has been stranded at the Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for the past three days after his handbag containing his passport was mistakenly taken away by a passenger to Canada.

Satyendra Singh said he arrived in Delhi from Lucknow on Saturday and was in transit to Bahrain.

Satyendra Singh, a US national who works in Bahrain, had come to meet his parents who live in Lucknow.

“On Saturday afternoon, I reached Delhi and went for security check to catch the international flight. The queue was long so I put my handbag in the scanner. By the time I reached for check and crossed it, I could not find
my bag. I informed the security, who checked the CCTV footage and found that another passenger took the bag and boarded the Air Canada flight. The flight had already departed by then,” said Singh, a US national, working in Bahrain. The Canada-bound passenger had reportedly taken Singh’s bag leaving his own behind. Continue reading

PASSPORT MAY NO LONGER BE VALID PROOF OF ADDRESS

 Passports may no longer be valid proof of address for a simple reason: they may not have the current last page with the address of the passport holder if the ministry of external affairs goes ahead with a proposal it is considering.

A women who converted Hinduism to Islam is now free from parental custody

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday asked Hadiya, a 24-year old woman from Kerala who converted from Hinduism to Islam, to return to a homeopathy college in Salem to complete her studies, freeing her from the custody of her parents.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, however, didn’t say anything on her husband Shafin Jahan’s plea against a Kerala high court order annulling their marriage. Ken Juster to be next US envoy to India

WASHINGTON: Kenneth I Juster, a top aide of US President Donald Trump, is set to be America’s new ambassador to India, a White House official said on Wednesday.

Juster, 62, is a senior economic adviser to the US president. . He will replace Richard Verma if nominated and confirmed by the Senate. “Ken Juster’s move to Indian ambassador is because he is extremely qualified for the position,” White House deputy spokesperson Lindsay E Walters confirmed to PTI the decision, first reported by The Washington Post earlier in the day. “Ken has a strong and positive relationship with everyone in the White House, including the president,” Walters said. An official announcement has not been made yet.

Girl deboards train for water, gang­raped after missing it

MEERUT : A teenage girl, who was travelling from Fatehgarh in Punjab to Bijnore district, was gang-raped by three youths near Saharanpur station on Friday when she deboarded the train to purchase water at the station. Police arrested all three accused from Saharanpur villages and registered a case. The Saharanpur SSP said that rape was not confirmed in the medical examination but “we initiated action against the accused on the basis of the girl’s statement.”
